J. London Restoration provides quality care for your antique furniture and decorative objects in their Stonington, Connecticut workshop. Each project is carefully evaluated and the best conservation treatment considered to maintain the integrity of the piece. Services include, repair, regluing, parts replacement, caning, cleaning, French polishing, refinishing and limited reupholster. On site restoration services available.
J. London Appraisals offers personal property appraisal services for one item or an entire collection. Residential contents furniture, fine art, decorative arts, rugs, silver and furnishings, valuations are carefully researched and provided. All appraisals conform to the latest USPAP- Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice- as set forth by the Appraisal Foundation. If a full appraisal is not required an Opinion of Value is an option.
While attending high school in New Hampshire, Jennifer Lacker spent weekends at local outdoor antique markets, bringing home dirty, distressed peices of furniture and then spent hours taking them apart and discovering their history and character. Ms. Lacker has a B.A. degree, Cum Laude in art history from Hobart and William Smith Colleges. After working at The Currier Gallery of Art and the Aga Khan Documentation Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she received a Master's Degree from Boston University's American and New England Studies Program. While concentrating on American painting, architecture furniture and decorative arts, she worked at several Boston cultural institutions', which included Forest Hills Cemetery, The Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities. She received a year long grant from the National Endowment of the Arts to research and document the collections of the Robert Bennet Forbes House/ Museum of the American China Trade in Milton, Mass. Following graduate school she was hired as a manager at Goltz Restoration. She later opened her own private practice in Beacon Hill, becoming deeply involved in the vibrant antiques trade of the 1990's, experience which she continues to draw upon today. In 1999, J. London relocated to the small seaside village of Stonington, Connecticut, half way between New York and Boston. In 2004, she received a certificate in art and appraisal studies from the Rhode Island School of Design in conjunction with the American Society of Appraisers. Since then, J. London has been able to offer clients full appraisal services for insurance, resale, estate or damage/loss claims purposes. J. London combines an active knowledge of market conditions with scholarship and an understanding of each object's value and integrity so to better inform each client's choices. J. London is regularly called upon to assist with entire private collections and also historic house museums in New England.
